The In-Between

This macrophotography project is both a technical challenge and a narrative exercise. Working at such small scales, the careful use of framing, lighting, and depth of field creates a sense of mystery and strangeness around the photographed objects. In particular, I make use of pareidolia, the tendency of the human brain to recognize familiar shapes, such as faces or everyday objects, in abstract forms. The result is a strong example of photography's narrative power: a single still image can offer pure visual pleasure, provoke questions, and spark the imagination, transporting the viewer into another world.
